Daily Burn for 7/30/12

Today's Candles by Victoria scent in my tart melter is Mermaid Kiss.  It is such a pretty green color! I know my picture has an orange/pink tone but it is a grass green color.
The description from the website is "top notes of ocean mist, sea moss, and dewy cyclamen petals; followed by middle nots of geranium flower, water mint, and coriander seed; sitting on base notes of white cedarwood and earthy vetiver.  Whoa!  Lots of notes there!  On cold sniff, this was kinda like a man's cologne/clean scent, but warmed up...I totally get the ocean mist and sea moss scents, as I have had those scents on their own and they are in my favorites.. very relaxing spa like scents.  I don't know what water mint smells like, but I do get a hint of a soft mint in the background.  I also get a bit of woody/earthy scents which must be the cedarwood and vetiver.  I have totally changed my mind on this scent from cold to warm!  I could definitely see myself getting a candle in this to light when I want to relax.. I think it would be a great bathtub scent!

I will probably be melting this one tonight and tomorrow, so the next posting will probably be Wednesday.  Until then, SMILE!

Mango Tango

Today's daily burn is Mango Tango, which is a dupe of the Gain laundry detergent scent of the same name.
It is pretty dead on!  The description on this is: MacIntosh apples, pears and white roses, followed by notes of mango, fresh greenery, and tiger lily, with base notes of floral musk.  I get apples, mango, and a bit of freshness from the greenery.  This scent is a bit fruity and a bit fresh and clean.  Love it!

CAS Mix

Whew.. this week has been C-R-A-Z-Y!  So glad it is Friday!  I know someone did this create a scent mix before but for the life of me I can't remember who it was.  I don't believe it is listed anywhere either but I may be mistaken.  Anyway....the mix is White Chocolate Karibu and Raspberry White Mocha Latte.
We have had White Chocolate Karibu before.... it is a Godiva scent described as a blend of roasted cashews mixed with buttery honey and drenched with white chocolate.  Sadly, it mostly smells like popcorn to me, with a drizzle of white chocolate.  I had heard that mixing it with Raspberry White Mocha was really good and tones down that popcorn like scent. RWM is a Starbucks dupe and is raspberry, white chocolate, creme brulee, and Frenchville coffee.  We had two heart tarts left from way back in RWM (which I love!) so I decided to pop one of those in with half the SS.  I don't get much of the popcorn scent anymore.. it has turned into a buttery richness that smells so good with RWM.  This one has been going since yesterday so I expect I will have something new in tomorrow!

What a day!

I am not going to go into a lot of details but Candles by Victoria came to my rescue today.  Basically, my mom and I spent the morning cleaning out blood from thawed meat from a condensation tray at the back of a fridge in an apartment unit.  It was NASTY!  When I got home, the first thing I did was put some CBV in my tart warmer, lol.  I wanted something STRONG so I mixed Peace and Sugared Spruce together to make what I would call Peaceful Pines.  It is a great combo... I might have to get this in a candle in the future!

I will probably be melting this tomorrow as well.  I can't wait.... two more days and my daughter will be back home!  I have missed her a lot.  Late Wednesday or Thursday I should be back to reviewing the scent shots that are new scents to me.  I love my crumbs but I am itching to try out some of the scent shots from previous orders!

Rainbows and CBV!

Over the past few weeks we have been fortunate to get some rain showers and thunderstorms.  I have been able to catch a few beautiful rainbows.
Isn't that just gorgeous?!
Wow!

It is that time again!  Tonight I put a mix of Peace and Vanilla Bean Noel crumbs on my melter.

The colors in the picture are not accurate because my lamp puts a pinky/orange cast on things when I take photos.  Peace is yellow and VBN is white.  As you know, Peace is one of my favorite scents and the VBN mellows it out... a bit too much for me.  Others might like peace mellowed out a bit though.  I think VBN is a great mixer scent that can add a creaminess and mellowness to any scent.  That is really what I purposed the crumbs of this for.. to mix.  It is a great scent on its own, don't get me wrong.  I just like really strong scents and it is probably more of a medium scent.

Off the subject, but for some reason,no matter how I lay things out while I am composing a post, things are not lined up that way when I actually publish.  Frustrating!  Oh well, hope you all have a wonderful night!

Need some relaxation!

Today has been an emotional day all around.  Things said by a family member really got under my skin last night.  Today I had to deal with someone feeling that when someone else does something a different way, it is wrong.  Guess what?! Just because it is not done YOUR way, that doesn't make it the only way to do something.  On top of all of that, school and work stress hit me last night as well.  Then, to find out this morning about the shooting in Aurora.... ugh.... tonight definitely calls for a glass of wine and some Lavender Vanilla from CBV in my melter.

This is my go-to scent for relaxation and I know there are many others that love this as well.  I still haven't tried the straight Lavender scent yet.. I have been afraid it might be too lavender/medicinal.  Anyone tried it?

Tonight, my thoughts go out to those injured during the shooting and the families that have lost loved ones. A family member of a HS friend of mine was shot in the head but is still alive.  It is unimaginable that someone could do this.  :(

Daily Burn 7/18/12

Alright, a new day, a new CBV scent!

After I got home from work, I popped in some of my Peace crumbles and some Lavender Vanilla crumbles.  I adore both of these scents and together, they knock my socks off!  The first name for this CAS that came to me was Peace At Last.  It makes me just exhale and say, "Peace, at last!" lol.
Love the pretty colors!

Tomorrow I am going to be painting the rest of my bedroom so this mix will probably last me to Friday. I will update my blog as soon as I put in a new scent!  :)

A new CBV post!

I know I haven't posted my "daily burn" in a while.  The main reason why is because I am in the process of painting the walls of my bedroom, which is where I do all my melting/burning of candles.  I was not planning on painting until next month, but one can of paint had an unfortunate accident and needed to be used quickly.  Instead of moving out the bed and the dresser, I am moving those pieces around.  This means I only am able to paint 2 walls at a time... wait for it to dry well, move stuff back... and do it all again.  I have gotten 2 walls done.  I took today to put things back in order.  Tomorrow I work and then Thursday I should be able to have the room painted.  Anyway, back to what I have been melting in my tart warmer.  For the past few days I have had a mixture of Lavender Vanilla and Sugared Spruce going.
Love how the colors look together!

They blended very well together and made quite a relaxing scent.  I have been bouncing names around for this CAS and the best one I came up with was Enchanted Pine.  I don't know if I truly like the name or not though, but the blend is awesome!

If I melt anything tomorrow, I won't be until I get home from work.  At work, I smell Tokyo Spring all day from the CBV reed diffuser.. amazing!  Have a great Wednesday everyone!

CBV Bingo Giveaway

I know this post is late and I am so sorry about that.  It seems my whole life is running a bit behind right now, lol.

Back in May, Beth from The Pouring Pot message board generously offered all members who participated in May Bingo the chance to win a 16 oz candle and soap in Love Birds, a creation by Tina and Kayla, which is now part of the regular CBV line.  Not only did I win a round of bingo I also won the random drawing for this awesome gift!
Card, soap saver, soap, candle, and notepad
Glitter!
Beth also threw in a few extra goodies.. what a
sweetheart!  There is a notepad with a pen, a soap saver (purple too, my favorite color, lol) and a beautifully handwritten card.  I am so jealous of your handwriting!  :)  Love Birds is a mix of Lovespell and Birds of Paradise.  Lovespell is a really crisp fruity fragrance with citrus and musky notes while Birds of Paradise smells like berries and cream.  These two blend so well!  I love the soap with the gorgeous marbled heart in the middle and the glitter!

If you don't participate in CBV Bingo, you should!  You can find more information at http://cbvictoria.proboards.com/ under the Candle Bingo thread.

Thank you so much Beth!  You did not have to do this and your generosity is unmatched!

Daily Burn 7/10

I has been a few days since my last "burn"... that Mango Smoothie lasted FOREVER!  It wasn't as strong of a scent as I was expecting but my oh my did it last!

It will be a few weeks until I get to try out some scents I haven't tried because Cynthia is visiting her dad for a few weeks.  Until then, I am going to be melting my crumbs, which I have 4 different kinds.. plus mixing them together a bit.  If we have some cool, rainy days I might actually light a candle here and there.

I decided to start of today with Peace... one of my favorites, which is why I have it in crumbs.  This scent is so complex.  It is musky and a bit earthy, but not in the usual way, not like a man's cologne or a woody scent like Jacob Black, if you have smelled that one.  It has lemon and orange notes as well as floral notes.  But, I can't really pick those out individually.  This is one of my go to scents when I am feeling stressed.  It just makes me take a big deep inhale and go "AHHHHH".

Today's CBV Scent

Surprising, we finished up Lemon Peach Pound Cake Preserves by afternoon, so in goes another scent!  Next in line was Mango Smoothie.. I have been waiting impatiently to try this one!  Cynthia decided we should go thru our scent shots in alphabetical order, in purchase order of course, using the older orders first.

Mango Smoothie is a pretty peachy coral color and is another one that is extremely juicy and fruity.  The notes in it are mango, papaya, lemon, and peach.  I don't get much lemon but the tartness is there. It really reminds me of my favorite fruity scent, Raspberry Guava.  I thought I might try mixing them together sometime but I don't have any RG right now.  :(  If I did mix them, I think I would call it Tropical Explosion.  Someone may have already mixed them together, I am not sure.  Nevertheless, I think I have found another fruity fav!

Daily Burn for July 5th

This evening I popped in Lemon Peach Pound Cake Preserves... oh man.. this is SO freaking good!  This is a mix of lemon pound cake, peach preserves and country cornbread.  You can also get just the peach preserves and cornbread in Cajun Cornbread.. amazing too!  When I first got this scent shot, I mainly got the lemon pound cake.  I have had it for a few months and now I get the peach and cornbread notes and a lot less of the lemon.  The straight lemon pound cake scent is one of the few lemon scents that don't make me think of cleaning products.  I know.. I am weird.   I am really enjoying this one and would consider a candle in it. I have a feeling this one is going to last a few days on my melter, because it is pretty strong right now.  So, until next time...

Have fun with your wax!

Daily Burn

I really love reading blogs from fellow CBVers who do quick updates on what they are burning/melting that day.  I have been throwing the idea around in my head of doing a "Daily Burn" posting every day (or whenever I change scents out.. might be two or three days).  Even though I generally melt scent shots/tarts and crumb melts, I like calling it the daily burn, not the daily melt, lol.  Just sounds sexier!

So, without further ado....

Today's Daily Burn!

Goldilocks:  The scent description is a sweet morning treat of oats, spice and everything nice! A rich blend of fruit and spice top notes balances with mint tones to create instant appeal for this blend. Spiced woods and soft floral tones are surrounded by patchouli at the heart of the fragrance. A base of soft vanilla bean completes this creation.  My take on it - it is a very well blended scent.  I can't really pick out the notes separately.  It almost has a fizzy note to it.  It is very comforting and cozy smelling.  I don't love it enough that I would get a candle in it, but I would lean toward getting another scent shot in it.  I also want to try a few create-a-scents with it.

Smell Ya Later!  Ha!
